Activities for children will be a new feature at the Barbados Reiki Association’s upcoming Holistic Health Fair (HHF). The HHF will be held at Harrison College on Sunday, April 3rd, 2016 from 9.00am to 5.00pm. The theme of the event is “Good Health Matters”.
“We wanted to offer activities for kids so that parents who want to attend can indulge in mini-therapies and presentations while knowing that their children are in good hands,” commented Sharon Hurley Hall, President of the Reiki Association. “
The kids’ zone will be provided by Jump & Wave, which runs play centres in Warrens, St. Thomas and Welches, St Michael. It will include a jumping tent and activity kit, and may include laser tag. There will also be storytelling by Linda Deane of Arts Etc and others, and face painting (using water-based paints) by Wacky Expressions.
“This will allow kids to indulge in fun physical activity while their parents are being pampered,” said Ms Hurley Hall.
The Barbados Reiki Association has been running an annual health day since 1998, in order to showcase complementary healing modalities. This year, the program will include a wide range of therapies, health products and healthy foods both on sale as well as on display. Various presentations will also be interspersed throughout the day to educate and inform on health and wellness matters. Admission to the health fair is $5, with the cost of mini-therapies capped at $20 apiece. Admission to the kids’ zone is $10, with an $8 charge for the laser tag.
Tickets are available from the Association’s Treasurer, Eugene Holder, c/o Regional Eye Clinic on 228-3209 or 228-8972 and from members of the Reiki Association. Tickets will also be sold at various venues such as supermarkets and shopping malls in the near future. Those wishing to reserve a booth can contact the Association on barbadosreikievents@gmail.com.
“We’re excited about welcoming kids to this year’s event so they can get an early introduction to healthy practices,” concluded Ms Hurley Hall
