We mourn the loss of our beloved Janice Worme, a Founding Elder and Past President of the Barbados Reiki Association, who made her transition on March 18, 2025. Janice was a remarkable woman of great strength, compassion and knowledge and an inspiration to all of us in the Association. A powerful healer, she was passionate about offering Reiki and pearls of wisdom about nutrition and health and wellness to everyone in need that came across her path, despite her own health challenges.
She started in the healing arts in 1995 after which she successfully overcame her own battle with Lupus. She studied with renowned healers such as Carolyn Maloney, Laurelle Shanti Gaya, Alan Sweeney, Dennis Alexander, Allan Herriot and many others. She was well skilled in the use of Reiki, Quantum Touch, Qigong, MEL (Mankind Enlightment Love) crystal healing and dowsing, which she offered to clients through the Natural Energy Centre (NEC), a holistic health clinic which she established with her husband and partner Jimmy.
As a Reiki Master Teacher she taught scores of students across Barbados and hosted a weekly Reiki Support Healing Group at the NEC. The Reiki Association owes her a debt of gratitude as she was amongst those who founded the Association and served on its Board of Directors as President and Secretary on several occasions in the early years. One of her unfulfilled dreams was to establish a Caribbean Complementary Health Association and she worked diligently at this.
She was very active in the Reiki Association’s WhatsApp group up until the time of her passing, sending healing and tips to members and their families and friends in need. On learning of her transition, members posted tributes to Janice, including describing her as “a caring spirit with a willingness to help”, “a wonderful soul with a huge heart of love”, “a powerhouse of information and inspiration”, “a true Reiki person”, “a gentle soul “, “a pioneer”. Reiki, healing and helping others was your life, dear Janice, and you shared openly, freely and tirelessly with all. We love you. We are indebted to you and you will always be in our hearts. Rest in peace.
We extend sincere condolences to Janice’s family, friends and students.
